Presidents James Madison, Thomas Jefferson and John Quincy Adams, as well as composer John Philip Sousa are among those who came here to worship. Just down the block at 636 G Street, SE is the home of famous bandmaster, John Philip Sousa. Marine Corps Barracks Eighth Street between G and Eye Streets SE 202.433.4173 On Friday evenings, May through August, at the barracks courtyard these "Eighth and Eye Marines" perform parades, a fanfare of rifle drills and precision marching. Tickets are free, but must be reserved at least three weeks in advance. For those without tickets, a general admission line forms at 6:30 pm at the courtyard entrance. Parades begin at 8:45 pm. |

Oral arguments are conducted on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays starting at 10 am, and may go until 3 pm with a one-hour recess at noon. When the court is not in session, lectures are conducted in the courtroom every hour on the half hour, and no reservations are required. U.S. Capitol 202.225.6827 The Capitol is open to the public for guided tours only. Tours are conducted from 9 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Saturday. Visitors must obtain free tickets for tours on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are distributed starting at 9 am. U.S. Botanic Garden 245 First Street SW 202.225.8333 Situated on the Mall at the base of the Capitol, the Botanic Garden includes the Conservatory and the Bartholdi Park.
